1. Hair washing routines

Daily showers with hot water and perfumed, "strong" hair products (such as shampoo) can be irritating to the scalp. This can affect hair regeneration. Prefer gentle products, preferably fragrance-free. Try natural hair drying instead of using a hairdryer.

2. Choice of hairstyle

Traction and trauma to the hair and hair follicles can cause hair loss. This type of hair loss is called traction alopecia and can accelerate androgenetic alopecia. Therefore, avoid hairstyles that exert strong traction on the hair, such as tight ponytails and braided hair. Limit the use of hairbrushes.

3. Avoid hair colouring

Hair colouring can stress the scalp, hair follicles, and hair strands. It is therefore not recommended to colour the hair during treatment for male hair loss, especially in the early stages.

4. Diet

In general, a healthy diet contributes to better hair quality. Some studies have shown potential benefits of using dietary supplements (multivitamins, omega-3, etc.). Vitamin D, vitamin B12, and iron likely play the most significant role in hair growth and regeneration. It is essential to ensure you are not deficient in these nutrients, especially considering vitamin D deficiency is common. Vitamin D can be found in cod liver oil/fatty fish. Green vegetables are rich in iron and vitamin B. Consider supplements if you do not regularly consume these nutrients.

5. Smoking

A selection of research articles has shown a possible association between smoking and the degree of androgenetic alopecia. This is not an established truth, but quitting or reducing smoking could contribute to reduced hair loss and increased treatment effectiveness. The overall health benefits are significant.

6. Stress

High levels of chronic stress can potentially lead to increased hair loss. Find time for rest and relaxation and ensure you get enough sleep. There are several stress management courses that can help you achieve a better daily life with less stress. Many people find benefits from yoga exercises and mindfulness.

7. Acceptance

Male hair loss is a common physiological condition and does not represent a disease. Accepting hair loss can lead to better quality of life for many individuals. Avoid searching for miracle cures that promise full hair regrowth. Treatment for male hair loss is a time-consuming process with varying and uncertain effectiveness, requiring continuous use and follow-up.
